The week started out fairly smoothly. Other than staying up a bit too late and dealing with seasonal allergies a few days, I was able to get up and do my workouts without too much issue. Then Thursday rolled around. Had to force myself out of bed and into the workout room. Managed to make it through the workout but I was definitely exhausted! Friday wasn’t much better, but fortunately I finished my workout before my menstrual migraine set in. Don’t think I could have done it if I had to get up early enough to drive somewhere!
Some of the things I love about working out at home are: 1) you don’t have to brush your teeth before you workout, 2) no need to fight traffic which means I get more sleep!, 3) you can pause if you need to, 4) if 30 minutes is all you have, you don’t have to cut into your workout time by driving somewhere. The countdown clocks that are on all of the Beachbody workouts come in really handy when you’re not sure how much longer you can exercise. It counts down the entire length of the video, but it also has a countdown clock for each segment, too. If I know I only have two more minutes left, I can push through.
That said, here are my workouts for the week:
- Monday: PiYo Define: Upper Body – 20 minutes
- Tuesday: PiYo Buns – 30 minutes
- Wednesday: PiYo Core – 30 minutes
- Thursday: PiYo Strength Intervals – 25 minutes
- Friday: PiYo Sweat – 35 minutes
- Saturday: No workout. Had a menstrual migraine, major cramps & a packed day!
- Sunday: No workout. Another headache!
By the end of this week I was really frustrated. At work, things were a bit stressful because our regulatory reporting was due so the deadlines are tight. I worked late a few nights, which put me home later, which makes it more difficult to go to sleep at a decent hour. To top it all off my monthly visitor decided it would show up a few days early to add more to my plate. Missing a workout because of pain that happens every month was probably the most frustrating part!
My hypothyroidism is likely the reason my other hormones are out of whack! I’ve got symptoms of estrogen dominance that I’m hoping to clear up. Saturday I met with a friend of mine who is a naturopath, and we came up with a treatment plan which includes a few more dietary changes and some natural progesterone cream. Hopefully this does the trick and I can be completely back to my old self again!
Remember: if you get sick or have a bad day, that doesn’t have to completely derail you. Just pick yourself up and start where you left off. Believe me, I know it’s not easy, but it will be worth it in the long run.
As always, thanks for reading!
